Letter to Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry Supporting SB100

August 23, 2018

Dear Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry,

My name is Taylor Mee-Lee.  I grew up here in Davis (Holmes Jr. High, Davis Sr. High-2002) and am writing you on behalf of the Davis-based volunteers with 350 Sacramento.  Our organization is committed to a world with a safe climate where nature is respected and protected, and with social, political, and economic systems that work for all people and the planet.

As you know, SB 100 is coming up for a vote in the Assembly in the next week, and your vote will be crucial to determining its fate.  While SB 100 will accelerate California’s transition to renewable energy, we feel the biggest impact by far will be the momentum this groundbreaking law will create.  People all around the world are wondering how the United States could turn its back and walk away from climate action at the very moment that it’s needed most.  With an economy now bigger than the U.K., France, India, Brazil, and all but four countries, it matters immensely what we do here in California.  We have the opportunity to reassert American leadership and turn the tide on this most pressing of issues.

Enclosed in this envelope are over 100 postcards signed by your constituents.  They represent hundreds of thoughtful, passionate conversations about our community’s health, prosperity, and wellbeing now and in the future.  They include people from Woodland in addition to Davis, as well as City Council candidates, a former member of the CA State Assembly, and countless mothers and fathers.

We hope you will take their messages, passion, and committed action to heart as you weigh your decision on SB 100.

Respectfully,

Taylor, Tom, Tina, and the other Davis-based volunteers of 350 Sacramento
