It’s that time of the year once again for Sacramento residents to give gifts to their favorite local non-profit organizations! This event is called the Big Day of Giving (BDOG) and the day is Thursday, May 6. Be sure to mark that one on your calendar right now. I’ll wait.
…
Okay, now that it’s on your calendar, the ball has already started rolling so let’s catch you up on a few things.
Starting April 12: Create a Fundraising Page
For each non-profit organization you want to support, you can create your own fundraising page. You can share this page with your friends and family when you ask them to join you in supporting your Sacramento non-profit of choice! We’ve created a quick, 5-minute tutorial for you here on our YouTube channel:
You can see my own personal page here, or Moiz’s page here for reference. We’re planning on having a Volunteer Power Hour focused on creating your fundraising pages with tips on making those hard donation asks so you can reach your fundraising goals.
**Update on 4/20/21**
Volunteer Power Hour is on Thursday, April 22 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

**End Update**
You might notice that there’s no option to donate yet. That’s because the fundraising bonanza hasn’t started yet!
From April 22 and May 6: Fundraising Bonanza!
Starting Thursday, April 22, people will be able to donate to your fundraiser (there will be a big Donate button at the top of the page). You’ll have until the end of the day on Thursday, May 6 (the Big Day of Giving!) to reach your fundraising goal. No worries if you don’t end up reaching that goal – what you raise for 350 Sacramento will still come to us so we can keep fighting for a better climate and a better future.
Media Toolkit
Here’s a link to the BDOG media and marketing toolkit. You’ll find lots of images and graphics to share on social media or by email or text message along with the link to your fundraising page.
In search of Matching Donors!
Here’s a special message from Chase, our awesome volunteer who is organizing 350 Sacramento’s BDOG efforts!
The Big Day of Giving is quickly approaching and we’re hoping to make this year 350 Sacramento’s biggest yet! The whole city of Sacramento comes together to donate to our nonprofit community on this special day in May. We are looking for matching donors, which is when a donor contributes a set amount of money to be “matched” when other people donate. So $50 turns into $100! If you or the business you work for, or other businesses in the community want to support us with matching funds, please contact Chase Novak on Basecamp or email him. Also, if you would like to help out with Big Day of Giving, please give Chase a shout!
