Make Polluters Pay on Earth Day
Be part of this historic campaign!
- When: Tuesday April 22, 6pm – 7:30pm
- What: Make Polluters Pay Phone Bank
- Why: This year California is going to make the polluters pay for the climate devastation they’ve caused (because we’ve paid enough!). Thousands of Californians are calling on the California legislature to pass the Polluters Pay Climate Superfund Act to get the fossil fuel companies to pay their fair share.
Benefits of the Polluters Pay Climate Superfund
The Polluters Pay Climate Superfund bill requires the state to carry out a study to quantify the costs of climate damages in California and establishes a fund into which fossil fuel polluters must pay to cover their fair share of those costs. Just a few specific examples of where funds could go include:
- Helping cover costs of rebuilding homes and programs for small businesses hit by climate disasters
- Investing in air conditioning for schools and home-hardening to protect from fire
- Funding public transportation and electric vehicle chargers
- Programs to distribute air filters to homes in wildfire prone areas
What can you do to help?
- You can leave a message.
- You can also call your Assemblymember.
- Please let us know if you made the call!
If you’re not in Ashby’s district, it is still a good idea to contact your own State Senator.

Amplify Your Impact
Participating in collective action is a powerful way to put pressure on leaders and decision-makers. By organizing together, we empower one another to have all our voices heard.
Different Types of Actions
In-Person Actions
Protests, Marches, & Demonstrations
Combine and amplify one another’s voices to oppose harmful corporate actions and political policies and support climate-positive solutions.
Civic Engagement
Show up to meetings or offices of city council members, county supervisors, state lawmakers, or candidates for office to voice support or opposition to policies, or engage in educational conversations with elected officials and/or fellow citizens. Also, VOTE!
Community-Building & Organizing
Organize and participate in purposeful meetings, celebrations, coalitions, and informal town halls to develop, refine, or review strategic efforts (including the wins!),
Remote & Hybrid Actions
Letter & Postcard Writing Campaigns
Writing campaigns can include mailing letters, sending postcards, or signing petitions, to be delivered to elected officials or other stakeholders to voice our position or otherwise contribute to the conversation on a particular issue. Sometimes, this is a coordinated campaign, executed by many individuals. Other times, 350 Sacramento writes and submits the message as an organization.
Phone Call Campaigns
The more constituents who contact their representatives by phone, the more likely that official will listen and act in response. Phone campaigns can be especially effective on the hyper-local level (calling your city council member), but can also be used to communicate with state representatives.
Email & Social Media Campaigns
Digital campaigns are usually carried out remotely, and can include actions such as writing emails, engaging on social media, or e-signing digital petitions.
