Advocacy Programs

Advocating for Systemic Change

Anybody can become an advocate – no experience required! All you need is to care about an issue, then the natural next step is to stand up and try to effect change. Check out our advocacy programs to find and advocate with others who care about the same things as you.

We hold local governments accountable for developing Climate Action Plans (CAPs) that are capable of accelerating the transition to a sustainable future in the Sacramento region.

Learn More About Climate Action Plans

We focus on opportunities for scaling building and transportation electrification projects, in both the public and private sectors, to reduce (end!) our dependence on gas and oil.

SMUD Watch is a group of concerned 350 Sacramento members who share timely alerts and promote SMUD policy and action that will reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.

Learn About SMUD Watch

We participate in hearings, advocate for positive climate bills, and communicate with both policymakers and the public to ensure bills are in alignment with environmental and community needs.

Learn About the Legislative Team

We actively participate with other organizations, institutions, coalitions, and community members, because we know that by working together, we have the greatest opportunity for meaningful progress.

Celebrating Our Wins!

Sacramento County Climate Action Plan (CAP)

Following our ongoing scrutiny, analysis, and comments, the County of Sacramento is re-drafting its long-overdue Climate Action Plan. The County’s work plan indicates the next draft will address eight of our long-standing concerns. This is a major step toward ensuring the County will meet its obligations to reduce pollution and do its share to protect communities from the negative impacts of climate change.

Measure A Not OK

Helped defeat a heavily-financed Measure A (2022), which would have subjected South Sacramento to sprawl development.

Zero Carbon by 2030

Applied pressure to local public utility provider (SMUD) to get commitment to environmentally sound building electrification plan.
