What does it mean to be Ready for 2025?
A (very) Personal Message from the Executive Director
Dear 350 Sacramento Community Members,
As we gear up for the next year, I find myself feeling something I’ve never recognized as a distinct emotion before: ready.
It is similar to hope, but more complex. The emotion of ready is firmly grounded in the reality of the inevitable turbulence that lies ahead. It’s similar to empowered, but with no illusion that power will be bestowed upon us by those who seek to hoard it. It’s similar to challenged, but is more focused on the strength from within, rather than the obstacles on the outside. Feeling ready leaves a compassionate space for our fear, anger, and sadness, in addition to our joy, courage, and confidence.
I feel ready, because I stand shoulder-to-shoulder with all of you on our journey toward climate justice. In 2024, this community achieved so many important wins and milestones. Even when the stakes were at their highest, you showed up, put in the hard work, shared your time, talents, and treasure, and left nothing on the table. You poured your heart into the mission and made a meaningful impact.
While nobody knows exactly what will happen in 2025, one thing is certain. 350 Sacramento is a community of champions. Together, we have the fortitude needed to fight for a just, sustainable future with clean air and a safe, healthy environment for all.
Thank you for continually demonstrating the beauty and power of community. Whatever the new year brings, we will be ready. Together.
With Love & Gratitude,
Patricia
