Legislative Team

Welcome to the 350 Sacramento Legislative Team! The Leg Team has advocated for and contributed to the passage of some landmark bills that are now law.

Among these are SB 100, which requires the state to achieve 100 percent zero-carbon electricity by 2045. Other laws, enacted by the governor’s executive order, will also go a long way to conserve the state’s natural beauty and reduce greenhouse gas emissions:

  • one is a goal to conserve 30% of the land and 30% of the ocean within the state by 2030;
  • the other requires the Air Resources Board to develop a strategy to sequester carbon in California’s natural and working lands.

We are a team of diverse backgrounds, and many are professionals in the environmental field. Our activities include attending legislative hearings and speaking in support of climate bills. We write letters to legislative committees and meet with legislators or their aides. Team members have also participated in rallies and lobby days for various bills. And we have fun!

Because of COVID, we do everything remotely. But we're as busy as ever! Now with a new president paired with a progressive majority in both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, it’s now or never for major climate action at the national level. So this year, for the first time, the Leg Team will have a federal branch.
