350 Sacramento helps maintain Morrison Creek

Written by Waverly H. III

Saturday, April 24, 2021, was a great day for 350 Sacramento, working in partnership with the City of Sacramento. That morning, volunteers assembled at Morrison Creek on Franklin to pick up the garbage that was scattered across the levee. I was surprised by the turn-out; mothers and fathers came with their kids, who also participated, along with students, and just regular good ole Sacramento samaritans. For two hours, we picked up all sorts of items from old candy wrappers, used tarps, and broken strollers.

After the work was done, our impact was obvious: The creek looked a lot greener. That to me is what makes our work worth all its effort. As we continue to fight for a cleaner environment, it is good to always keep in mind what can be done with just teamwork and hustle.
