Mayor Commission on Climate Change Implementation (MCCC) Team

Background

In 2018, Mayor Steinberg brought together a diverse group of community stakeholders to form the Commission on Climate Change. With considerable community input and professional technical expertise, the Commission developed a final report in 2020 detailing actions the Sacramento region should implement to address the climate crisis and make our community more resilient. You can read the final report here.

Our work

This team focuses on advocating and lobbying Sacramento City Council to pass the recommendations outlined in the Report, as well as other actions urgently needed to reach carbon zero as soon as possible.

Members of our team attend monthly meetings to coordinate public advocacy, including tracking and providing public comments at City Council meetings, meeting with City Council members and City Staff, and outreach to partners in the community to build power and educate the public on advocacy opportunities.
